How long does therapy take?

The short answer is, "It depends." It is very important to consider the uniqueness of your situation. The needs of each person differ from case to case. The length of your therapy will depend on the nature and complexity of the challenges that you are encountering.

I endeavor to work both efficiently and effectively. As we work together, the pace of your therapy will be determined according to your unique needs. Many find that they benefit from therapy once weekly, or every other week. Some find greater benefit from more than one session a week.

At times, a psychotherapist may not feel like the right match. As in any relationship, a person will “click” with one psychotherapist more than with another. If you are concerned that what I offer may not be a good match for your needs, I will welcome discussing those concerns with you and will give you the names of other therapists who may be a better match.

Our initial session is as important to you as much as it is to me. While it will help me get to know you and assess how I can help, it will allow you get a sense of how I work as a therapist. I encourage you to assess your comfort level with me, and how confident you feel about my understanding of your specific situation and needs.

I would be happy to discuss your specific concerns and answer any questions that you may have. Contact me for a free 20-minute phone consultation by calling 425-247-1880 or by emailing me here. There's no obligation and it's confidential.
